First, from the good food people at Sara Lee, we have delicious Apple Pie, Pecan Pie, and Key Lime Pie. By the way, most of you have experienced or have heard about the fine quality of Sara Lee® Pies. But did you ever wonder if there really was a person named Sara Lee®? The answer is “yes”. Sara was 8 years old when Charlie Lubin, a bakery entrepreneur, decided to name his new line of cheesecakes after his daughter, Sara Lee. His company was purchased in 1956 by Consolidated Foods, where Mr. Lubin continued to serve as a senior executive for many years. In 1985, Consolidated Foods changed its name to Sara Lee® Corporation. Although Sara Lee has never had a management role at the corporation, she has appeared in some television advertisements for our bakery products. In her words, her father told her the product “had to be perfect because he was naming it after me”. Eli's® Cheesecake from the popular Chicago restaurant “Eli's The Place for Steak” brings us a very fine Strawberry Topped Cheesecake. The popular Chicago restaurant “Eli's The Place for Steak” is the birthplace of Eli's® Cheesecake. Located in historic Streeterville, dining at Eli's is a true taste of Chicago in every sense of the word. Just walking through the door, you become a part of Eli's 56 year history. It all started when Eli Schulman decided to create a great dessert for his Chicago restaurant, “Eli's The Place for Steak”. He developed a cheesecake so rich and creamy, his customers proclaimed it Chicago's Finest.
